“Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!
Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why Jessica James, recent college graduate and perpetual level-headed good girl, has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life.
His friendly smiles make her tongue-tied and weak-kneed, and she’s never been able to move beyond her childhood crush. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can’t stand him, and she’s pretty sure he can’t stand the sight of her…
But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. Jessica James has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane’s disdain; therefore she’s unprepared for the reality that is Duane’s insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks. Not helping Jessica’s muddled mind and good girl sensibilities, Duane seems to have gotten himself in trouble with the local biker gang, the Iron Order.
Certainly, Beau’s magic spell is broken. Yet when Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, now more dangerous than ever, how much of her level-head heart is she willing to risk?”
Holy swoons batman! To make this short and sweet, I loved this book so much! Mild action, so much romance, an amazing amount of swoons, and a bearded mountain man were exactly what this book gave me.
Jessica James grew up playing with the Winston boys, especially twins Beau and Duane. While she developed a deep infatuation with Beau, she grew to dislike Duane since they did nothing but argue. Plus she has a deep wanderlust (need to travel and see different lands, especially hiking) that keeps her from settling down. So when she returns home after college to save money for her travels, she’s thrown for the biggest loop ever.
Duane Winston has loved Jessica since they were pre-teens. He knows they belong together and can see the happiest future with her. She’s the reason he has never settled down and has only slept with 1 other girl, Jessica’s cousin Tina, a stripper who works in a club just outside of town. So when Jess returns to town, Duane is determined to make her his, and that means everything has to be perfect.
This book was wonderful. The stream was high and very well written, I enjoyed that Duane was the one putting the brakes on everything and wanting to take things slow. And there was no slut shaming for Jessica, which is wonderful in of itself. Sex was mainstream and that’s what I like to see.
The high points were definitely every little thing Duane did to show his love, the interactions between the brothers, and Claire. She needs to have her own book with Billy. I’d ship that so hard!
Action was mild and only toward the end. I was worried when Duane’s side story was brought out. I really didn’t want there to be an unnecessary aspect just to make the story longer. Color me surprised when everything came together toward the end. I enjoyed it, and am dying to have all the other brothers’ books in my hands…like now!
This is a definite must read!
